Terry Burridge

My hope is to see people living transformed lives, free from fear, anger and doubt.

My name is Terry and I’m glad you’re here.

I have spent 30 years working in the NHS helping minds to heal.

As a counsellor, university lecturer and clinical mental health nurse I believe that many of the things that shape us are hidden from our conscious minds.

Like an iceberg, much of our life is below the surface but nonetheless has a huge influence on us. Counselling for clarity gives you a space to talk with me about things in your life that don’t make sense, or that make you sad, angry, confused, frustrated, or afraid.

““Out of your vulnerability will come your strength.”

Sigmund Freud

Counselling can’t change what life brings – but it can help how you respond to it. Talking with a counsellor gives you the chance to step outside yourself and look at your life from a different perspective.

My professional background

I am a Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, which means that I subscribe to a code of ethics and have completed a recognised professional training.

My first training was as an R.E. teacher. After a few years of trying to teach St.Paul’s Missionary journeys to bored 14 year olds, I decided that teaching was not going to be for me. (Or at least not R.E. teaching !) I eventually retrained as a psychiatric nurse which was much more to my liking. Although I eventually used my early training and became a University lecturer, teaching Mental Health Nursing.

My qualifications are:

  • Cert.Ed- St.Paul's College, Cheltenham
  • Mental Health Nurse (RMN) - Fairfield hospital, Beds
  • B.A. (Hons) - Luton University
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills - Westminster Pastoral Foundation, London
  • Diploma in Adult Counselling - Birkbeck College - University of London
  • M.A. Psychoanalytic Studies - Tavistock Clinic / UEL
