All change?

Election Day - 4th July 2024

Today is an important day for the UK. It’s a General Election. The polls seem fairly certain of the outcome but they have been known to get it wrong. It’s hard to know how things will look when the results are known. For some people there will be a brave new world full of hope and optimism. Others will be thoroughly depressed and view the future with dread.

Change is always upsetting, whether that’s a change of government or rearranging the living room. Things aren’t the same! Some people love change. Others loathe it. Some changes are more painful than others. Divorce is , usually, more upsetting than a marriage. Having children, whilst disruptive, is a welcome change. The death of a parent or loved one is, mostly, painful.

Whilst counselling may not help your reaction to the Election, it can help with other life events. Loss of almost any kind can be helped with seeing a counsellor. It’s about helping you understand what you might be going through and why.

Struggling with love on Valentine’s Day? This blog explores how self-worth shapes our relationships and why some people find themselves in toxic patterns. Whether you're searching for love or stuck in a cycle of disappointment, counselling can help you break free and build a “good enough” relationship—one based on mutual respect and value.

Counselling is more than just talking—it’s about truly being there for someone. Whether through deep listening, making connections to past experiences, or simply holding space in silence, therapy offers a place to be heard and understood. In a world filled with noise, the chance to just "be" can be profoundly healing.

““Out of your vulnerability will come your strength.”

Sigmund Freud

Counselling can’t change what life brings – but it can help how you respond to it. Talking with a counsellor gives you the chance to step outside yourself and look at your life from a different perspective.
