"In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer." (Camus)
A great quote but it's often hard to find the invincible summer. No matter how much we know about ourselves, we can still be vulnerable. For me, at least, this is one definition of spirituality. Having faith that sooner or later, summer will come. This can be a long, slow and painful wait. It can help to find a spiritual counsellor to walk this journey with you. And to point out some of the things that remain, even in the darkest nights. As somebody who is a spiritual counsellor , I have helped a number of my patients find their own spiritual path, although each person found their own distinctive way to this place.
Miarabai Starr wrote "I think that much of our depression and anxiety... has much to do with ... the soul's need and longing for transcendence. This need is instinctual and unavoidable."
Working together, we can find that ways of feeding that need for transcendence.
